01Agreement to our legal terms
The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation ("Foundation," "we," "us," or "our") operates this website and related programs and services that link to these Terms (collectively, the "Services"). You may contact us through Anne Hultgren, Executive Director, at contact@beckman-foundation.org or by mail at 100 Academy Way, Irvine, CA 92617, United States.
These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and the Foundation. By accessing or using the Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Services.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Your continued use of the Services after revised Terms are posted means you accept the changes. The Services are intended for users who are at least 18 years old.
02Our services
Information available through the Services is intended for use in jurisdictions where doing so is lawful. If you access the Services from another location, you are responsible for compliance with local laws.
The Services are not designed to satisfy industry-specific requirements such as HIPAA, FISMA, or GLBA. Do not submit regulated information through the Services unless we have expressly agreed in writing to appropriate safeguards.
03Intellectual property rights
Unless otherwise stated, we own or license the software, website design, text, photographs, graphics, logos, trademarks, and other content made available through the Services. These materials are protected by intellectual-property laws.
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access the Services and download or print portions of the content solely for personal, educational, or internal use. No content may be exploited for commercial purposes without our prior written permission. Questions may be sent to contact@beckman-foundation.org.

Eligibility, deadlines, award amounts, and obligations for each program are stated in that program's guidelines or a separate award agreement. If those terms conflict with these website Terms, the signed award agreement controls.

If you voluntarily send us ideas or feedback, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use that feedback for any lawful purpose. This does not change how personal information is handled under our Privacy Policy.
08Services management
We may monitor the Services, investigate suspected violations, restrict access, remove content, or take appropriate legal action to protect the Foundation, our community, or others. We are not obligated to monitor every activity or submission.
09Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information. By using the Services, you acknowledge that policy. The Services are hosted in the United States, and information may be processed in the United States.
10Term and termination
These Terms remain effective while you use the Services. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms or used the Services unlawfully. Obligations that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
11Modifications and interruptions
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability and are not liable for downtime, maintenance, or discontinuation to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
13Dispute resolution
Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at contact@beckman-foundation.org and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, any court proceeding must be brought in the state or federal courts serving Orange County, California, and each party consents to those courts' jurisdiction and venue.
14Corrections
The Services may contain typographical errors, inaccuracies, or omissions, including program descriptions, deadlines, and availability. We may correct or update that information at any time without prior notice. Official program guidelines and signed award agreements control over general website content.

17Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Foundation and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and agents from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable legal fees arising from your misuse of the Services, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights.
